Description | The new field of terrorism informatics is not only multidisciplinary but also requires new approaches to processing its complex underlying collections of data. In this paper, we introduce Multi-Feature Indexing Network (MUFIN) which is able to manage and search a large class of digital data according to the metric model of similarity. It is also scalable with respect to the data volume as well as the query execution throughput. At the same time, its performance can be tuned by mapping the search structure on a needed computation infrastructure. We illustrate the capabilities of MUFIN by outlining some of its current applications. Finally, we show how MUFIN can be used to deal with many biometric data and illustrate such possibility on the face retrieval application. |
