Description | Complexes of macrocyclic ligands are widely used in medicine (MRI, nuclear and optical methods) for diagnosis and/or therapy. Molecular imaging utilizing the metal complexes is an emerging field of medical/biological research. The complexes considered must be highly stable under competing conditions. Acid-assisted decomplexation kinetics is a method of choice for assesment of kinetic inertness of the complexes. Relations between structures of ligands and thermodynamic and kinetic stability of their complexes will be discussed. |
