Description This paper deals with the fossil mollusc faunas from samples of four sections in a wall near Čakovice village and samples of two sections from a pit excavated near Miškovice village. Paleoenvironmental analysis of the faunas and lithology of the lacustrine sediments have proved than in the vicinity of the 250 m contour level these fauna-rich deposits indicate nature conditions in the final phase of the Labe river activity. Then an ensuing sudden powerful erosional activity formed a prominent river valley leaving remnants of individual erosion and accumulation phases in the form of sand and gravel terrace deposits as potentially important sources of paleoenvironmental evidence. This is a breakthrough phase in Pleistocene history proved recently on several other localities. We suggest for this clearly defined section of time situated between the Lower and Middle Pleistocene (like in the case of older geologic systems) the term "Pleistocene event".
