Description | Monograph Vegetation of the Czech Republic summarizes the results of more than eight decades of research into Czech plant communities. Besides a detailed description of floristic composition, ecology, dynamics and distribution of all major types of natural and human-modified vegetation it also presents, for the first time, distribution maps of all phytosociological associations of Czech vegetation. Unlike similar treatments of vegetation of other countries, all associations distinguished in the Czech Republic have been unequivocally formally defined based on their species composition, which makes it possible to use a computer expert system to assign vegetation stands sampled in the field in associations described in this monograph. The second volume of the four planned is devoted mainly to herbaceous vegetation of man-made habitats such as interior parts of cities and villages, surrounding of industrial and agricultural areas, road verges, railways, arable land, forest clearings and walls. This volume also includes description of natural vegetation of rocks, screes, forest edges and canopy openings. This vegetation is divided into 8 phytosociological classes, 32 alliances and 119 associations. |
