Description | Three whole genome sequencing methods were used for genome sequencing of strains Samoa D (1 139 330 bp), CDC-2 (1 139 744 bp) and Gauthier (1 139 441 bp ) of T. pallidum ssp. pertenue, the causative agent of yaws. The previously reported size of the Nichols genome was 1 138 011 bp (1039 ORFs). The minimal gene length of genes predicted in SamoaD genome was set to 49 aminoacids of correspondnig proteins (altogether, 1088 ORFs were predicted). Possible function was predicted for 90 genes with previously unknown function (in the Nichols genome). It was discovered that more than 3% of the ORFs have significant differences, e. g. genes TP0133, TP0304, TP0462-463, TP0544, TP0577, TP0619, TP0651, TP0668, TP0968. These genes are likely to be involved in different pathogenicity of ssp. pallidum and ssp. pertenue strains. Next more than a half (56%) of the genes code for identical proteins in both strains, 15% of ORFs differ in length, 1% of ORFs have frameshift mutations. |
