Description The chapter Legal aid and social policy is opened by brief analysis of legal aid formation in context of social policy various eras. The main content is the detailed comparative analysis of legal aid programs’ modern trends in developed countries with various profiles of social policy according to the classical taxonomy by Esping-Andersen. The author operates by responsibility distribution among the state, lawyers’ community and clients as the main criterion for the comparison of different models. The retrospective comparison of Swedish, American and Britain legal aid programs is aimed to indicate factors of some elements (manage and finance schems) of these programs adoption by Russian authorities.
