| Description | The article presents Patočkas analyses of the crisis of Europe and of the spiritual roots of Europe. Special attention is given to the most important of these analyses which can be summarized in the claim that the most proper spiritual root of Europe is the socratic and platonic notion of the care of the soul. This claim and its presupositions and consequences are being critically discussed. |
