Description | The text is based on a presumption that it is not possible to study contemporary forms of religion accordingly without considering the today's key processes, thus globalization and individualization. Religion is not separated from other parts of social life and the interpretation frame of concepts of globalization and indiviualization is a more appropriate interpretation concept than the so-called secularization thesis was. The text attempts to use the impulses from reflexive modernization (as an interpretative basis of globalization and individualization theories) for academic study of religion and suggests that concemporary sociology of religion should be concieved as "global," thus it should extricate itself from the existing ethnocentrism and attempt to build its assertions on the basis of intercultural comparison. |
