Description This paper summarizes an educational project in a study programme of the Department of Geography, Faculty of Science, Masaryk University in the city of Brno, the school year 2008/09. The sustainability teaching/learning was based on methods such as joint deduction, induction and abduction in study groups, emphasizing fieldwork in the Deblín-town area, near the city of Brno. Inspired by Millennium Ecosystem Assessment the study of landscape ecosystems was a base for teaching/learning in the field and also in the classroom. Landscape is understood as a set of landscape ecosystems consisting of natural components - a capital used by human communities in land use. Sustainability represents the good reason for continuing capital cycle between nature and humans understood also as their interaction. In the time of globalization we could not forget other important term – glocalisation and also an advice: think globally, act locally. We were not satisfied with individual questionnaires covering immediate condition of mind in an interview. Our intention was community experience with landscape, relation between individuals and social groups in rural community. Not usual cooperation of the university and primary school Deblín opened Deblín-town community for their parents. The project also involved the municipal authorities of Tišnov, their Department of Environment and the public administration of Deblín-microregion. We were also searching the main stakeholders, actors, shareholders, decision-makers and not omitting spectators for their important role in cultural landscape ecosystems sustainability. Studying environmental perception and participation, GIS technology application in the framework of multiple method in geographical research based on field survey and remote sensing data offered new knowledge.
