Description | There is a rich vocabulary in Czech dealing with the issues of health, which includes words usable either in their basic or their symbolic sense, figurative expressions and phraseology. Texts of different stylistic genres, especially those of artistic or journalistic nature, show how refferences to a color of a person or perhaps skin, are used to convey the symptoms of health and disease. For example, comparisons with yellow color are frequent in the images of sick people whose face may be yellow as wax, or waxy yellow. At present, there is a wealth of linguistic materials we can access - a half-a-billion word collection of written texts in contemporary Czech. |
