Cadmium belongs to the most important biocumulative elements. It is retained mainly in kidneys, liver and it can be retained and cause damage to testicles and ovaries. The presence of cadmium in an organism is harmfulm and undesirable as it has toxic, carcinogenic and terartogenic consequences. This chemical element from the 2nd group of periodic system was discovered in 1817 by Stromeyer and it was found as an impurity in zinc ores. We meet this toxic metal in our everyday lives by our active or passive, willing or unwilling inhaling of cigarette smoke.
