Description The paper deals with the role should have a school in promoting the health of pupils who suffers from diabetes mellitus juivenilis (diabetes type I). The incidence of this disease in developed countries continues to grow. It is therefore very likely that both teachers and pupils of our basic schools will be in their classes much more often with his fellow student-diabetic. Even well-compensated and treated the patient with diabetes is at risk number of serious health complications, inappropriate treatment and the effects of acute uncompensated metabolic disruption, the risk of death. Provided diabetic patients with acute complications develop, then his life often depends on immediate help from people around. To obtain at least the framework concepts awareness about children and school teachers about diabetes, its manifestations and to help in an emergency was made by the pilot probe questionnaire at 2 elementary schools outside of Brno. It also was the methodological guide, which should serve both educators mentor students and both diabetes patients and prospective teachers in undergraduate teaching at the Faculty of Education.
