Description The first case of MRSA was recorded in UK in 1961. In 1980 the first community transfer of the bacteria was described. Since then MRSA has been the most "successful" human pathogen ever. Even with the development of new antibiotics MRSA has still contributed to high morbidity and mortality rates. Perioperative care workers have an important role in preventing and containing the MRSA therefore continuous education education is one of the modern approaches used in the effort to eradicate the gram-positive coccus.
