Description | Until now, little attention has been given to evaluate why states choose to contribute troops to UN peacekeeping operations. Some authors prefer value-based explanations, others prefer interest-based explanations. However, none of them seems to be able to sufficiently explain why do states support some operations and not others, leaving the issue of selectivity in participation unresolved. The paper proposes to use public goods theory as an interesting alternative to the previous accounts. |
