Description | To study Ephemeroptera and Plecoptera taxocenoses, 13 sites evenly distributed across the area of the Bohemian Switzerland National Park and representing all present types of freshwater habitats were sampled by kicking technique in all seasons of 2008 and 2009. Further 13 sites were sampled by sweeping and/or Malaise traps in 2004-2009. 35 Ephemeroptera species and 29 Plecoptera species were found. Of these, 23 and 16 species, respectively, represent new records for the National Park; 2 and 8 species, respectively, are in the Red List of Czech Republic. 6 species collected in the 1950s have not been re-found. Sampled running water habitats were classified into four types based on environmental variables. Relationships between species composition and measured environmental variables were analysed using DCA, showing a distinct gradient. Taxocenoses confined to small sandy brooks, the typical running water habitat of the central part of the National Park, are discussed in detail. |
