Description | The contribution covers the results of a research project concerning the position of intonation centre in English utterances by Czech speakers. It focuses on the main differences between the way English native speakers read out several scripted dialogues, and the versions of a large sample of Czech users of English. The most outstanding features were identified and analyzed with respect to both prosody and functional sentence perspective. |
