Description | The most common parasites were Crustaceans found on the gills and body surface of 22 fish spp. Likewise, heavy loads of Monogeneans were recorded on the body surface, fins, and gills and rarely in the stomach of 18 fish spp. Other groups of parasites were represented by both larval (Contracaecum sp. in 6 fish spp.) and adult stages of nematodes in most fish spp., Digeneans in 8 fish spp., larval gryphorhynchyd cestode larvae and numerous adult cestodes in 12 fish spp., acanthocephalans in 3 fish spp., hirudineans in 3 fish spp. and myxosporidians in 6 fish spp. |
