| Description | Geriatric patients present a risk group not only due to the occurrence of heat trauma but also due to higher mortality and morbidity associated with burn injuries compared to the younger persons. In Czech Republic approximately every eight burn victim admitted to hospitál is a senior over 65. The fact that these patients often suffer from other diseases, malignant tumors, or malnutrition means that they require specific approach to diagnostics and treatment. Study done at FN Brno from 1.1.2005 31.12.2009 included all seniors hospitalized at ICU of the Clinic of Burns and Recontructive Surgery. Defined data was collected retrospectively and analyzed. |
