Description | Augustin Smetana (1814/1851) struggled to find order, purpose and goal in history of philosophy, as he considered history of philosophy to be the best source of understanding the whole historical process and the best means of formulating a unique theory of history of philosophy. He understood the three major epochs of the development of the spirit (being, knowledge, consciousness) as three phases of historical development: the Eastern, the Western and the contemporary phase, which is the source of the future ideal society. |
