Description Light emitting diodes (LEDs) are nowadays frequently used light sources in all areas of science and technology including chemistry, chemical analysis and separation science. In this presentation, the strengths but also weaknesses of LEDs will be outlined and illustrated by examples, with the advantages, disadvantages and alternatives discussed.
