Description | Our Paper aims to show the possibilities which experimental economics can offer to the economic theory and policy evaluation. Based on well-known standards we have run several economic experiments with the Czech university students. The main purpose of our experiments was to (i) evaluate general validity of the published results of these experiments in case of the Czech students; (ii) discuss the standard public good theory and the free-rider model; (iii) discuss the results of various environments (monetary and non-monetary motivation, possibility of cooperation, introduction of threshold). We worked with the standard voluntary contribution mechanism game. Our results indicate that Czech students behave more or less according to the standard results of published experiments. That means that they free-rider less than the standard economic theory predicts. Our experiments also confirmed importance of monetary motivation of subjects and showed that even though cooperation within discussion among participants increases the amount of contributions to public good, this increase is not stable. |
