Description | Organ preservation is nowadays a preferred attitude to the treatment of a locally advanced laryngeal cancer. The protocol is based on hypothesis that the results of both surgical and nonsurgical treatment are equal. This presumption was confirmed with results of our retrospective study comparing patients with laryngeal cancer stage II-IV treated in years 2001-2008. Both the strategies were comparable in overall survival as well as in disease n-ee interval. We reached the organ preservation rate of 81 % but the laryngeal function was preserved only in 55% of patients |
