Description | Environmental innovations, as well as other types of innovations, can be perceived as one of the competitiveness factors. The overview article deals with impacts of environmental innovations on the quality of working environment, employment and quality of work in companies. Cleaner production is one of the preventive strategies lowering negative impacts of business production on the environment. Economical and environmental impacts of environmental innovations have been already described; however social impacts are much less known. Recent research studies conducted in the European Union indicate that integrated measures of environmental protection in companies have rather neutral or slightly positive effect regarding employment. The increase in number of jobs is observed in a small number of cases, especially in companies where the demand for work is highly specialized. Changes in the quality of working environment and the increase in employee qualification can also be substantial. |
