| Description | The paper introduces social control in traditional, modern and post-modern society. The attention is focused above all on the post-modern society. The author defines the postmodern period which is distinguished by a high degree of uncertainty and instability of the social world. This time brings the feeling of insecurity, loneliness and loss. The main trends of postmodern control include high tech controlling rituals as parts of everyday life. An attention is also paid to changes in the area of social control, to the transition from Panopticon to Synopticon, from a literary analogy of Orwell s 1984 to Kafka s Trial as an additional source of inspiration. |
