Description | The presentation aims to present discriminant equations for sexing human clavicles, applicable to complete bones as well as fragments. The sample consisted of 225 individuals of equally distributed sex derived from the Human Skeletal Reference Collection, University of Athens. The specimens were fully documented and represented present-day population from cemeteries in the area of Athens, Greece. Based on measurements in various combinations 12 different equations were formed. For each clavicle 8 measurements were taken. Subsequently, 6 measurements were selected according to the measurement error and magnitude of sexual indices. We created discriminant equations which produced rates of accuracy ranging from 80.4% to 94.0%. |
