| Description | In November 2010 new electronic ID cards have been introducted in Germany. Technologically the cards are based on the procotols of the Exteded Access Control version 2.0. The ID cards allow for identification and autnetication of the card holders and optionally can also be used to create digital signatures based on qualified certificates obtained from accredited CAs. |
