| Description | Action of ribonuclease on growth, synthesis of cell wall and ultrastructure in yeast protoplasts and cells was studied by light and electron microscopy.It was possible to find concentration of ribonuclease at which protoplasts are viable, but do not grow and vacuolize. These protoplasts are not able to synthesize the glucan fibrila of the wall, probably due to damage of plasma membrane by ribonuclease - plasma membrane probably takes part in the synthesis of fibrils. Ultrastructure of plasma membrane was affected by ribonuclease, as shown by freeze-fracture and transmission electron microscopy. |
