| Description | This review defines the term “metabolomics” and clarifies its history and significance. The different strategies of metabolomics research are described together with their main application fields. Then the review focuses on the ways of sample preparations and on the analytical methodologies that are most frequently used for metabolomic studies - NMR, MS, GC/MS, HPLC/MS and CE/MS. Practical importance of metabolomics and its role in the systems biology are mentioned as well. |
