Description | This paper introduces partial results of specific student research focused on neutralization techniques used by noncriminal population to protect from self-blame and self-image damage. The aim of the research is to understand the neutralization process of quilt or shame following conventional norms violating behaviour. This process introduced Sykes and Matza (1957) in their neutralization theory. The partial results in this paper includes findings of connection between the commitment to conventional norms and self-concept. |
