Amino Acids Footprinting Based on Capillary Electrophoresis for Non-invasive Assessment of Human Embryo Viability

Description | Nowadays an embryo viability assessment relies upon an embryo morphology evaluation under a light microscopy. However, implantation rates of embryos selected in this way in general do not exceed 35 %. In order to increase chances of a pregnancy, multiple embryos are transferred in spite of the fact that health issues related to a multiple pregnancy occur. A new millennium began with a request made by the world leading embryologists to find an alternative non-invasive selection method. Metabolomic profiling of a spent embryo culture medium seems to be an appropriate way and analytical tools such as HPLC-MS/MS, 1H-NMR, Raman and Near-infrared spectroscopy were already examined for this purpose. Suitability of a capillary electrophoresis for amino acids footprinting is presented, pitfalls revealed and discussed. |
