Description | In the introductory chapter we introduce the main ideas of the whole book which we develop later in the text. Observation is described as a tool for pedagogical reflection, which in our case focuses on the relationship between the content and the aims of tuition. Observation is a traditional and in fact the most effective means of making teachers reflect on their own teaching and making them analyse it on the basis of the curricular programme or of theory. Observation can thus contribute to increasing the quality of teaching/learning as well as to professional development of teachers. That is why we use the term developmental observation. |
