Description | Monitoring of microbial colonization of mucous membranes in patients at high risk of infection (e.g. hematooncological patients) is considered to be a standard. However, there are still many unanswered questions in this issue - from the frequency of blood draws, selection of biological material, length of colonization, relationship between stem colonization and infection, etc. The aim of this article is to present an overview of the various factors influencing monitoring of patients colonization in a hospital environment and especially to initiate discussion leading to recomendations on how best to use the results of these microbiological tests. |
