Description Cardio-ankle vascular stiffness index (CAVI) is calculated from the pulse wave velocity and reflects the stiffness of the artery from the heart to the ankle through the aorta, femoral and tibial artery. The extent of arteriosclerosis can be quatitatively-assessed by this index CAVI. CAVI shows a high value in patients with various coronary risks and arteriosclerotic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, chronic kidney diseases. It is considered that a decrease in elasticity in the aorta is a parameter that can predicate the ischemic diseases and future cardiovascular complication. In the framework of medical preventive follow-up examinations, the sample of 254 individuals (aged from 23 to 90 years) was examined using the newest type of non-invasive monitoring system VaSera 1500.
