Description | The aim of the project was to create a profile of the typical participant in extreme endurance race and to verify the possible relationship between selected physiological and performance parameters and an absolute ranking in the race. Data were obtained from 14 amateur cyclists. Used methods: questionnaires and physiological measurements. There were statistically significant correlations among the values of resting heart rate and the absolute ranking and the number of mileage during last season (2010) and the absolute ranking in the race. This confirms the results of numerous studies dealing with research in cycling. However other factors than only aerobic power and capacity might influence off-road cycling performance which require further investigation. The results of other physiological, haematological and biochemical parameters will be published subsequently. |
