Description | An eco-innovation is any innovation that reduces negative impacts caused by production and consumption. Environmental innovations can be developed upon an initiative of companies or they can be requested by customers. As regards impacts of ecological innovations, they can affect producers as well as customers.Environmental innovations can arise intentionally but they can also arise as a secondary effect of innovations whose primary target was different. Some pressure on development of new eco innovations can be also exerted by the government. The comparative analysis results from an innovation survey carried out in the European Union and it examines which types of innovations are implemented in various states and what is the motivation of companies. The article also discusses whether ecological innovations are launched more often in the most developed countries of the EU or in the less developed ones. Eco-innovatios are directly supported by the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP). |
