Description | The results was made based on the verification of properties. This technique consists in determining the weight of water absorbed by the fiber bundle after immersion in a water bath. Measurements carried out on 20 cm long polypropylene fibers bundle. The fibers are first weighed and then immersed in distilled water for 10 seconds after emerging fibers are suspended and allowed to drain freely in air for 20 s Finally, the fibers were again weighed. Volume weight difference before and after immersion in a water bath gives the amount of water absorbed by the fiber bundle. To remove air voids in the fiber bundle must be immersed in a water bath to maintain the volume and tight.Determining the weight of water absorbed beam is loaded with a relative error of the order of several percent. This is mainly due to the fact that the volume is not smooth, but some fibers are intertwined on the surface of the volume is formed clusters of fibers in which excess water is maintained. The resulting mass of water absorbed is determined as the average of at least 10 measurements. |
