Description | Ernst Mach is primarily known as a physicist and philosopher. However, due attention should also be paid to his contribution to psychology and pedagogy. Our study aimed to explore the direct links to his ideas in the contemporary Central European psychological discourse. These ideas are mainly dispersed in psychology of perception. Mach is regarded as one of the founding fathers of functionalist theories, followed by Egon Brunswick with his concept of probabilistic functionalism. Certain functionalist aspects can also be traced down in the core of ethological studies. |
