Description | Since the 1990s we have been witnessing a collaborative turn in contemporary fine arts, that includes a growing interest in collective forms of artistic practice and participatory approaches, which are characterized by artists’ involvement of “ordinary people” or particular communities. There are two main areas of interest involved in this study. The first is an introduction into a contemporary discourse on collaborative art; the second is a survey of manifestations and forms of collaboration in the Czech contemporary art. This survey is completed with a triplet of case studies focused on the selected art projects (There Is Nothing There by Kateřina Šedá, Us by Rafani group, and Figure and Ground by Jesper Alvaer and Isabella Grosseová). Artistic value and complexity of these projects makes them an excellent starting point for a comparative analysis. |
