Description | The development of parties in Singapore in the late 1950s and in the early 1960s was conditioned by a heterogeneous set of factors connected with the processes of decolonization, the expansion of political participation, and the polity building. The impact of polarisation stemming from the colonialist-anticolonialist and communist-anticommunist cleavages was of crucial importance. |
