Description | This paper is concerned with research of prolonging children’s cohabitation with parents. Such transformation of children–parents cohabitation is conceived as one of the indicators of prolonging transition to adulthood. Prolonging cohabitation with parents is being rethought in context of broader social changes. On the basis of researches dealing with leaving parental home and transition to adulthood the thesis discusses an absence of universal patterns of leaving the parental home, its timing and distinct regional differences and the social and cultural conditionality. These regional specifics shape particular patterns of transition to adulthood and related patterns of leaving parental home. In general, there are two distinct patterns of leaving parental home (early Northern pattern and late Southern pattern) which can be conductive in comprehension and explanation in prolonging transitions. |
