Description | Thanks to technological advancement in the area of brain research neuroscience brings a new evidence, which can help us to better understand human behaviour and agency. Thus its methods are being used also in other scientific fields, as e.g. in the scientific study of religion. But can neuroscience explain such a broad socio-cultural phenomenon as religions? And how human brain undermines formation and experiencing religions? These and other questions will be discussed in the first half of the lecture. Second half will be aimed at religious change from the perspective of neuropsychology of religions and cognitive sciencies. The matter under examination will be mainly: why is religious change occuring at all and why are some religions more successful than others. |
