Description | Sarcosine, N-methylglycine, is a natural water soluble amino acid, which is a side product during the synthesis and degradation of glycine. Recently the hypothesis has been formulated that sarcosine can serve as a marker of prostate cancer and it is suitable for distinguishing of benign, localized and metastatic tumours. The aim of this work is to optimize the electrochemical coulometric detection coupled to flow injected analysis (FIA-ED). Limit of detection obtained by this method was 110 nM, which is sufficient for determination of sarcosine in various matrices including urine or blood of patients. |
