Description | Fluoropyrimidine-base chemoradiotherapy before total mesorectal excision (TME) is currently the gold standard treatment for stage II and III rectal cancer patients. Pathological complete response is related with a longer relaps and overall survival. On the other hand, patients with a primary resistant tumors could be spared exposure to chemotherapy and radiation that are associated with substantial adverse effects and costs, and surgery could be schduled without delay. We have used microRNA profilling to identify in our series responders and non responders to preoperative treatment. |
