Description Theory of attachment was created for therapeutic needs and it was based on direct observation. The aim of this contribution is to find implications for therapeutic use of attachment theory and make research findings available in a form that can be used by therapists. Therapy is usually focused on diagnoses recognized by ICD-10 - Reactive attachment disorder of childhood (F94.1) and Disinhibited attachment disorder of childhood (F 94.2). Attachment theory propose therapeutic interventions also to non-pathologic patterns of attachment, which are not adaptive: insecure-avoidant, insecure-ambivalent and disorganized. Therapeutic interventions have similar principles, since they differs in some aspects according to needs of client and therapeutic setting. Our focus is on MBT – therapy based on mentalization which is one of the newest approach how to help people with impaired interpersonal relationships.
