Description Social geography, being understood as the study of society and its spatiotemporal relations, is also interested in a social sub-group commonly referred to as the disabled. According to experts, this group can form up to 30 % of inhabitants at any given moment. It represents, therefore, an indispensable part of the population which socio-geographical surveys have neglected. In the Anglo-Saxon world, people even talk about the geography of disability as a branch of science developed in the eighties and nineties. In Czech geography this has not been systematically studied. This paper is a brief meta-analysis of Czech geographical studies of disability. At first, changes in the status of the disabled in society will be described with respect to how this concept has been developed. These changes are further reflected in the terminological apparatus, which consequently influences understanding of the concept. It will be followed by an analysis of geographical approaches, aimed mainly at the questions of the access disabled people have to spaces , which is one of the most vital topics of the contemporary geography of disability.
