Description | Purpose: To evaluate the results of surface excimer laser refractive surgeries (advanced ablative surface - ASA: PRK, LASEK, Epi LASIK, WF guided PRK, LASEK) in children with high myopic, hyperopic and astigmatic anisometropia, intolerance full spectacle correction and contact lenses. Methods: A total of 183 children in age from 3 to 16 years in years 1995-2010 were undergone surgery methods ASA (PRK, LASEK, PRK + PTK Epi LASIK), implantation Verisyse, CLE, RLE. In all case of laser surgeries the multizonální photoablation zone with transit zone min. 7.5 mm technique was used. Since 2001, in 70 % patiens we used mitomycin-C applied (0.05%) peroperatively after photoablation. Results: The mean spherical equivalent (SE) refractive error -8.6 D preoperatively decreased to -1.83 D at the last visit. In all cases, there was a significant reduction of anisometropia allowing easily carry an additional spectacle correction of residual refractive error. There were no significant early or late postoperative complications. Conclusion: Refractive surgery (excimer laser, phakic IOL, ev. combination) in childhood are effective and safe options for correction of ametropia complicated inability to use conservative treatment. They allow to maintain or improving of corrected visual acuity and quality of binocular vision. Laser refractive surgery in anisometropic amblyopia method is more effective than correction contact lens at the same dosage pleoptic treatment. |
