We examine educational systems subject to changing conditions and educational requirements
Our research aims to contribute to the better understanding and improvement of educational quality. Research is carried out at the individual institutes and departments of the Faculty of Education of Masaryk University and focuses on the objectives, content, resources and learning outcomes at university and beyond.
We strive to improve education quality
Our aim is to contribute to solving key social issues such as the lack of education, (il)literacy and (in)competence.
We also examine changing socio-cultural conditions which lead to changes in educational requirements. Our researchers must be constantly “on guard” if it is to be socially relevant.
Issues of national and international importance
At the national level, we have received two Czech Education Research Association awards: one for an original school reform research concept and a second for a publication exploring issues of education quality. A nationwide survey of secondary school curriculum reform implementation, commissioned by the MEYS-operated National Institute for Education, was carried out by the Faculty of Education of MU.
Our research successes on a European scale include numerous publications (most recently e.g. Janík, T. (2016). Aktuelle Entwicklungen im Bildungsbereich in der Tschechischen Republik: Curriculum – Unterricht – Lehrerbildung. Münster: Waxman) as well as invited study visits, awarded scholarships and lectures at international congresses.
