Part-time work while studying
One of the benefits of studying at university is that you can take part-time jobs while studying, either for financial gain or just to diversify your free time. However, when choosing a part-time job, you should first of all carefully consider whether you can actually manage to combine your work with your studies and still have time for relaxation, hobbies, family and friends. In particular, studying subjects that do not fully require continuous preparation from hour to hour may tempt you to postpone studying until just before the exam period and to fill your free time during the semester with part-time work.
If you decide to do an internship, you should prefer one that is at least partly related to your field of study. The Careers Centre can provide professional advice in this regard and you can also register on the Masaryk University JobCheckIN careers portal.
Working while studying or studying while working?
Have you found a part-time job that meets all your ideas about your future work, and do you have the opportunity to make it happen? Plus, it's in your field of expertise and it makes you think that you don't actually need to finish your degree to do this great job? Don't be fooled. In the short term, it can indeed bring you some benefits, such as a sense of self-fulfilment or financial independence, but in the long term, you need to think that in a few years you may want to change jobs and a lack of knowledge or proof of a degree may prevent you from doing so.
