About us

ELSA (the European Law Students’ Association) is an international, independent, non-political and non-profit organisation founded with the aim of facilitating meetings between young law students at various events, encouraging their personal development, self-actualisation and gaining new experience in the area of law. ELSA is made up of law school students and young lawyers from around Europe dedicated to achieving academic and personal excellence.

ELSA offers students a unique opportunity to acquire new knowledge while perfecting existing skills. This one-of-a-kind organisation was established to encourage interaction between students, teachers and experts in the area of law and law-related fields across Europe.

ELSA was founded in 1981 by Austrian, German, Hungarian and Polish students. ELSA’s membership keeps growing. It is currently active at nearly 300 law schools in 43 countries, connecting 42,000 students and lawyers from across Europe, making it the largest independent association of law students in the world. ELSA Brno has been active at Masaryk University as a registered association since 1998.
