RESEARCHER I (PhD student or PhD graduate/Junior researcher for the project “Ready for the future: understanding long-term resilience of the human culture (RES-HUM)”)

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a colleague to join the Department of Archaeology and Museology with focus on the use-wear analysis of artefacts from bone & antler, in the range from Neolithic to Iron Age. Ability of osteological analysis is advantage.

The successful candidate will participate in research activities of the project “Ready for the future: understanding long-term resilience of the human culture (RES-HUM)” which is focused on understanding basic principles of the resilience of human society in a historical perspective using long time series and on the transfer of the acquired knowledge into everyday social life.
 

 

MAIN JOB CONTENT

Framework

• Work in a research team/group.
• Involvement in publication activities, possibly also presentation of research results.
• The content of the research activity: use-wear and functional analysis of archaeological sources.
• The candidate will be integrated in the research team of Mgr. Ludmila Kaňáková, PhD. in collaboration with her research group at Masaryk University. The candidate is expected to apply an innovative approach to archaeology and other disciplines, to pursue a holistic and interdisciplinary concept of research on human society and its resilience in the past.

 

WE REQUEST

Professional education, qualifications and experience:

• Be a PhD student / PhD graduate /Junior researcher of Archaeology.
• Have a publication activity in the past 3 years.
• H index at least 2 is an advantage.
• Have excellent communication skills and be able to collaborate with multiple teams.
• Demonstrate a capacity for innovative research, new methods & methodologies, and cross-disciplinary thinking.
• Be able to cooperate on an international research project.

Length of experience required

• Experience in the field is not required.

Language skills

• Knowledge of English language at B2 level.
• Knowledge of the Czech language is not necessary.

Requirements related to job content

• ability to carry out independent scientific research in use-wear analysis of bone & antler artefacts
• orientation in recent tasks of this research both in Prehistory and in Protohistory
• ability to informed choose of samples for further analyses (radiocarbon dating, stable isotope analysis) and implementing their results
• ability to publish
• ability to collaborate on scientific and research tasks in a research team
• ability to present research results

• openness to change
• team spirit
